Earlier this week, our community health team was out in the district of Buikwe conducting primary surveys of sanitation levels in local fishing communities as part of a joint project with the Icelandic Embassy.
At the village of Lukondal, our teams traveled from house to house speaking to community members to identify the current levels of sanitation & hygiene. This vital research will enable our teams to assess the community's needs in order to provide technical training and the correct rationale to equip households and make their home environments more sanitary and hygienic, reducing the prevalence of avoidable cases of sickness and disease.
Our aim is to help the village of Lukondal, among many others, to join the 14 communities and 32 schools, helped by The Busoga Trust in Buikwe District over the last 12 months, to become Opened Defecation Free.
