|
Jessica Jemba
- Operations
Manager
Jessica has been working for the
Trust for 8 years, having been trained in social work and secretarial
studies. She heads up the team in Luwero, making sure that all those
under her, whether they be finance, technical or social, are working
together effectively towards one overall greater aim. She enjoys
working in the sector as it allows her to work with rural communities
as well as earning a living for herself and her children. She says
that it was the Busoga Trust Mission Statement which attracted her to
the sector. In her spare time she enjoys driving, gardening, indoor
games and watching sports. |

Winifred Kaboyo - Financial Administrator
Winifred has been working for the
Trust for 8 years, bringing with her an almost insatiable desire for
knowledge. She possesses all manner of certificates and diplomas in
office practice, administration, accounting and secretarial studies.
She is at the financial helm in Luwero, responsible for ensuring that
the cash flows effectively, allowing the technicians to carry out
their all important work in the field. Her desire to work in the water
sector stems from the fact that it is vital in people’s lives and that
she wanted to be instrumental in assisting those communities through
the financial administration of the Trust. In her spare time she likes
to look for more training facilities and course in order to expand
upon her existing experience. When even that is too much like work she
prefers to visit friends and join clubs. |
|

|
Jimmy Kiwendo - Storekeeper/Driver
Along with Kagwa, Jimmy forms part
of the Old Guard of the Luwero Project, having worked with the Trust
for ten years. He really is an asset to the Trust, trained and working
as a storekeeper, driver and hand-pump mechanic. He is one of those
gentle giants that potters away quietly getting on with his work, ever
ready to help. He chose to work in the water sector to earn money and
improve the water and sanitation provision to the communities. In his
spare time he, like so many of his countrymen, is passionate about
football and likes nothing better than watching a good match. |
|

|
Kagwa Wilberforce - Driver/Maintenance Supervisor
Kagwa, along with Jimmy, has worked
for the Trust for ten years. Like Jimmy, he is one of those men who is
a jack of all trades. He brings with him qualifications not only as a
hand-pump mechanic and driver but also as a carpenter. As is
characteristic of the dry sense of humour of Kagwa, when asked why he
wanted to work in the water and sanitation sector, he replied that it
is because Busoga Trust Water & Sanitation pays on time. When not
working he likes to spend his time watching football and touring.

|
Lydia Kyaligamba - Community Development Officer
Lydia started working for the Trust
in 1997, working as part of the Community Development Team, helping to
mobilise and educate the communities prior to project work getting
underway. A qualified nurse, she is ideally suited to the job of
health education which is one of the motivating factors for her
working in the water and sanitation sector. She wants to change home
attitudes towards hygiene, teach people the importance of using clean
water in order to improve their health and to train the wider
community in the principles of health and hygiene. A devout Christian,
she likes to spend her free time ‘singing God’s songs and reading the
bible’. |
|

|
Eddie Lukwago - Assistant Community Development Officer
Eddie has been working for the Trust
since 1998. Definitely suited to his job, Eddie takes mobilisation
meetings in his stride, exuding confidence and charisma. He brings a
certificate in community development to the position and works in this
field both to earn a living but also to serve the community at the
same time. In his spare time he tries to get involved in income
generating activities, watches movies and reads community development
journals. |
|

|
Alice Nalwanga - Administrative Secretary
Alice has been working for the Trust
for 8 years and must surely be the highest qualified secretary in the
country. She has a degree in office management and secretarial
studies, a diploma in business studies, a certificate in computer
studies and a diploma in management of information systems. She works
in the sector because she feels that, as a secretary, she wanted to
learn about other professions and technologies relating to water and
sanitation. She was interested in learning how people can gain access
to clean water. In her spare time she likes to listen to music, play
computer games and read novels. |
|
 |
Robert Kalenzi - Technical Supervisor
Robert is the new boy of the Luwero
Project, having only started in August 2005. He brings with him a
BTech in Construction Engineering, a diploma in water engineering and
an international certificate in the planning and management of water
and sanitation technologies, with particular focus upon low income
communities. He wanted to work in the sector in order to alleviate
poverty amongst the rural communities, improve on overall water
coverage, earn a living, promote high standards of sanitation in the
rural areas and also because the work of the water sector had been and
interest of his since childhood. In his spare time he likes to get
involved in income generating activities, read books on technology
development and read newspapers in order to become better informed on
national and global affairs. |

 |
Lubanga James -
Logistician/Senior Maintenance Officer
James is following in his father’s
footsteps, Rev William Kiwanauk, in becoming a member of staff with
Busoga Trust Luwero. With a Diploma in Arts James is not only a
talented artist but is also a gifted musician who enjoys strumming on
his guitar until the early hours. When not fulfilling his duties as
Assistant Maintenance Officer James is more often than not charged
with the task of patiently transporting the Busoga Trust’s Liaison
Officer here, there and everywhere on his trusty Suzuki. |
|
 |
Kigongo Irene - Community
Development Officer
One of Busoga Trust’s newest
recruits Irene joined the Luwero staff after successfully completing a
BA in Social Sciences at Makerere University. Initially employed as a
volunteer Irene’s dedication and hard work soon paid off when she
became a fully fledged member of staff in October and joined the
Busoga Trust/Plan Uganda sensitisation team. When not helping to
improve hygiene and sanitation in Luwero Irene enjoys making friends
and watching movies, though nothing too scary! |
|
 |
Kabugo John Sekitoleko -
Senior Driver/Mechanic
John is currently enjoying his
second term with Busoga Trust as the Senior Driver in Luwero. After an
initial stint with Busoga Trust John ventured in search of pastures
new and found them with TNT Deliveries in Kampala. However, the allure
of helping to provide clean water for Luwero’s poor proved too much
and John came back on board in late 2006, a welcome return indeed. |
|

|
Richard Sekilanda -
Community Development Officer
A local lad Richard joined Busoga
Trust at the end of 2006. Employed with the task of sensitising
communities on proper hygiene and sanitation Richard has been a key
implementer of the Busoga Trust/Plan Uganda sensitisation project.
Previously working with the Catholic based development organisation
CARITAS Richard joined Busoga Trust so to improve on his working
knowledge of water and sanitation. |
