Johnson Waibi - Project Manager
Johnson graduated with a diploma in Water Engineering from Kyambogo University. For the last nine years he has worked in the rural water supply sector, and first joined the Trust in March 1998 as Operation and Maintenance Supervisor. After an 18 month interim with Oxfam, Johnson rejoined the Trust as Project Manager in 2002 and holds the post to this day.

He recently visited the UK, spending time addressing meetings and church services to raise awareness of the current problems facing his team on the ground in Busoga. His presence at these events was instrumental in securing many kind donations to further the work of the Busoga Trust.

Chris Marsh - Liaison Officer
Fresh from a high altitude challenge in Bolivia, Christopher Marsh is the latest instalment to the position of Liaison Officer. Having previously spent 10 months teaching at Busoga College, Mwiri in 2004 and as a former Vice-President of the Stop Aids Society at the University of Bristol, Chris comes to the Trust with a wealth of knowledge and experience of both the Ugandan people and the most prevalent issues which affect not only Uganda but the continent of Africa as a whole. Chris’s decision to work with the Busoga Trust is through a simple acknowledgment that the provision of clean water is the most worthy of causes. When not fulfilling his official duties you will no doubt find Chris practising the art of wheelies on his newly purchased motorbike or toning his Kite Surfing skills on Lake Victoria’s windswept shores.

Sam Kiiza - Senior Community Development Officer
Sam has been working for the Trust for 5 years, in particular with the Community Development Team. He brings a BA in Social Sciences to his job, along with certificates in report writing and in participatory methodologies in the water and sanitation sector. Sam is driven by his desire and need to work in a job which allows him to serve rural populations. He makes for a very good public face of the Trust, often being utilised as a host for people visiting the work of the Trust. His particular skill at hosting field visits and presentations was put to good use by UWASNET, when they made him the regional co-ordinator of the Capacity Building programme. In the time he has off from work he pursues his interest in playing scrabble and in football.

Frank Kumbuga - Chief Engineering Officer
Frank is the latest addition to the Trust’s staff in Uganda. He started working for us on the 1st of February 2006. Settling in very well, he brings with him an added impetus to the Trust’s efforts in Uganda, building upon the skills and abilities of the Project Manager. He is eminently qualified in the technical aspects of his job, possessing a Higher Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering. He likes to spend his leisure time learning new things, socialising with old and new friends but generally speaking he is a sports man through and through and is a keen volleyball & chess player. He works in the Water & Sanitation sector in order to do what he can to help those most in need of aid.

Moses Mugabane - Operation & Maintenance Supervisor/ Water Quality Analyst
Moses is one of those quiet, unassuming members of the Trust’s staff that works tirelessly. In fact he had worked tirelessly for the Trust for a total of six years now, joining us after completing his BSc in Biochemistry and Zoology (hydro-biology) at university. He came to work in the water sector as a result of those qualifications, combined with the need to earn a living and his desire to broaden his base of skills and knowledge in terms of water and sanitation activities.

Emmanuel Nsubuga - Senior Driver/Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor
Emmanuel (Emma) started working for the Trust six years ago, having previously worked as a music teacher in Nairobi, an electrician and a welder. It is often thought that although it is the infantry that win battles, it is the logistics that win the war and Emma is at the spearhead of our logistical supply chain, most often seen behind the wheel of his Canter lorry, ferrying thousands of brick or bags of cement to the field. In what little spare time he gets he enjoys learning more about mechanics and spending time being subjected to the demands of his three year old daughter Joanna. He enjoys a job where he can work, earn a living for himself but also help ease the suffering of people in rural areas.

Robinah Nakimuli - Administrative Secretary
Robinah has been working for the Trust for six and a half years, bringing with her a Diploma in Stenography and is currently doing computer lessons. She enjoys working for the Trust because it allows her to build up her CV, earn a living and at the same time be part of the process of helping provide people in rural areas with clean water.

Justine Namukwaya - Community Development Officer
Justine has been working for the Trust for one year, during which period she has been trained up to work as a Community Development Officer, responsible for carrying out the sensitisation, mobilisation, education and evaluation of the communities in which projects are ongoing. She enjoys working in the water sector because she gets to assist communities and community groups in their attempts to furnish themselves with clean water supplies and hygienic practices.

Allen Mulangira - Community Development Worker
Allen has been working for the Trust for six and a half years, looking after the accounts and controlling the money that the Trust has. She is studying to be a qualified accountant and has so far attained up to her Part 2 ACCA certificate. She works in the water sector in order to earn a living but also to see exactly what the water and sanitation sector was actually offering to rural communities. In her time away from the office she likes to read books and watch movies.

Loy Mwanjuzi - Finance Administrator
Loy is yet another member of staff who carries on the long tradition of Busoga Trust/SPW relations. She was a volunteer on the 2005 Health Education Programme, where she spent 2 months being trained in all manners of health and sanitation education before being assigned to teach Health Education in two schools in Kamuli district. She has been working for the past two months as a volunteer for the Trust but will be moving onto a probational contract in the near future. In her spare time she likes singing, reading, watching TV, listening to music and visiting friends. She came to work in the water and sanitation sector in order to acquire more skills and knowledge in that field and also because of her interest in working in rural communities.

Hussein Ibanda - Assistant Maintenance Supervisor/Driver
Hussein is best characterised as the faithful workhorse of the Busoga Trust. He rarely ever takes a day off, working Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, etc. He has been working on and off for the Trust for nine and a half years becoming a very firm fixture during the past few years. He is both a trained hand pump mechanic and also trained in machine drilling by CIS. When he does eventually, rarely, take some time away from work he enjoys to relax by reading books. His reason for working so doggedly is the desire to help rural communities to improve their hygiene and sanitation.

Edson Waiswa - Technical Supervisor
Edson has been working for the Trust for ten years, bringing much experience, enthusiasm and a Diploma in Civil Engineering and Building along with him. He has effectively taken on the role of chief technician this year, although not officially termed as such. He is happy to pass his knowledge onto the other technicians, broadening the skill base and capacity of the Trust in the process. He works this hard because he is driven by the desire to improve on the hygiene and sanitation in rural communities. In his spare time he likes to read novels.

Yusufu Munubbi - General Assistant
Mzee Yusuf is the longest serving Ugandan member of the Trust staff. He started work for the Trust on the 14th of August 1988 which was, to illustrate just how long he has served the Trust, barely one week after the current Liaison Officer’s fifth birthday. Mzee (a term of reverence for an elder man) is part of the grease that keeps the metaphorical cogs of the Trust’s activities moving smoothly. He does everything from collecting our mail to carrying out repairs to keeping the management topped up with tea. A very handy man to have around, Mzee is a trained plumber and often travels to the field to help the technicians. In his spare time he enjoys looking after the animals he keeps at his home. He has always had an interest in the Water & Sanitation Sector and this led him to come and work for the Trust
