About
The Trust takes its name from the Diocese of Busoga in Uganda. In 1979, the then Bishop, Rt. Revd. Cyprian Bamwoze set up a development programme with the aim of bringing improved prosperity and hope to the people after years of political turmoil and anarchy. His appeal to contacts in the UK for support led to the foundation of the Trust in 1982. (Read about our history here)
The Trust is proud, not ashamed, to say that we have learned from our mistakes, as well as the mistakes of others, over the years. Proud because we have actually learned from them and now apply those lessons in our day to day work. We operate using a set of principles, which you can read about here.
The Team
The Trust employs 39 people in Uganda, across 5 project areas (comprised of 37 Ugandan, 1 Brit and one American).
In the UK, we have 2 full time and 1 part time employee, along with a board of trustee.
